I was wearing my black and red Chico State shirt on the day that we flew out of Madrid Barajas airport.
Before catching our flight to Amsterdam, I decided to write about the past couple days in Spain in my journal while we waited at the terminal.
When I finished and turned to place my journal back in my backpack the young man who had been sitting next to me for the past 25 minutes asked, "You go to Chico State?"
I said yes and he proceeded to explain that he’s a student at Chico State AND HE’S A JOURNALISM MAJOR.
That automatically caught Risa and Christine’s attention. We were all shocked because the three of us are Journalism majors as well.
Moral of this story: It’s a small world that we live in.
Here we are sitting in Madrid's International airport right next to a Chico State student, who’s a journalism major like us and is friends with one of my good friends who he was visiting that same day.
He’s studying in Spain so we discussed our experiences thus far and compared how living in Spain is compared to Italy.
It was really great to meet a fellow Wildcat while on Fall Break and it just goes to show you never know who you will meet while studying abroad.
If I had never worn that shirt we probably would have never had a conversation, so I recommend wearing your college gear while abroad! Not only will you be representing your school but you may run into students who you've never met before while waiting for your next flight!
