At first I was a little skeptical over the idea of eating sushi in Italy, but after one of my friends told me that they had eaten at the restaurant before I was open to the possibility and last night I ate sushi for dinner in Viterbo!
I ordered Edamame for my appetizer and then tried three different rolls including: California Roll, Shake Avocado (salmon and avocado) and Shrimp. They served all the sushi on two giant plates and we just picked at the huge pieces.
For dessert we ordered fried ice cream and friend bananas. I wasn't a fan of the ice cream but the bananas were delicious!
I must say one of my favorite food comas is a "Sushi Coma" and I was rather surprised at how much we all enjoyed the meal. Especially, because throughout dinner we were comparing our favorite sushi places back home.
We even received Italian fortune cookies after paying and I was pleasantly surprised by mine:
There is so much truth to that fortune!
Even though I was skeptical about eating sushi in the country known for pasta and pizza, I actually really enjoyed my non-italian meal a lot last night. It got me thinking about how much I miss the variation of food I eat back home.
Don't be afraid to try new restaurants that may not be the exact cuisine that your host country is known for. All my girl friends and I had been craving sushi all semester and thankfully we got our fix in Viterbo last night!
