Florence is a beautiful city and one I definitely wouldn't mind going back to visit in the future. Risa and I accomplished a lot in the past two and a half days!
Some highlights of the trip:
- crossed off two items from my bucket list: climb to the top of the Duomo AND take a cliche picture at The Leaning Tower of Pisa
- met three different groups of people who commented on my Chico state tank! (One couple is actually from Chico and we had a great chat with them at lunch our first day; they'd like us to visit when we are back in Chico!)
- got to see the Statue of David in all its glory! The detail is amazing!
- saw Ponte Vecchio & walked across it!
Lastly, my aunt and uncle are vacationing in Italy for the next two weeks and Florence is the first city they are staying in. My uncle's brother Pat and his wife Carol are traveling with them. We met up with them on Saturday night when they arrived. They took Risa and I out to dinner and even treated us to breakfast, gelato and lunch today. I'm so happy we got to meet up and I got to see some of my family while studying here in Europe! They even brought up some more winter clothes my mom had given them.
I'm very thankful to have such a loving family that I got to spend time with this weekend and also for Risa for being my travel buddy and accompanying me on my first weekend trip! Florence you were amazing and I can't wait for my next adventure!
